Bessie T. Mudra, 94, of Creston, Iowa died Sunday, May 26, 2002 at Crest Haven Care Center. Services were held June 1 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. Conducting the service were Father Leonard Kenkel and Father John Maier. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery.
Bessie was born on Feb. 10, 1908 in Creston to Joseph Mudra and Bessie Potter. She graduated from Creston High School, then she graduated from Northwest University. Bessie was never married. She was a school teacher in Creston and a short time in Kent. She was a church organist for Holy Spirit Catholic Church for 50-plus years. She taught music in all grades for several years before she retired in 1973. She is a lifelong resident of Creston.
Bessie was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church; Alter Society; St. Ann's; Catholic Daughter's of America; Greater Community Hospital Auxiliary; Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority; Retired Teachers Assoc.; CARTA now CARSPA.
Survivors include a nieces Paula Thompson of Oregon and Mary C. Norman of Washington; Cousins Joe Kelley and Liz Kelley-Walsh, both of Creston; Nephew Pat Mudra of Oregon.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother; and a sister-in-law Paul (Rita) Mudra.
