Lumbard, Norma Jean Sobotka -
On July 23, 1929 Norma Jean Lumbard was born to Edward and Beulah (Roudybush) Sobotka. She grew up in the Diagonal area with her four brothers; Donald, Leonard, David and Loren Ivan (Butch) and graduated from Diagonal High School in 1949.

On August 16, 1949 Norma Jean was united in marriage to Louis Roy Lumbard at the Christian Church in Diagonal, and to this union came the
blessings of six children; Roseann, Mary Beth, Spencer, Brenda, Hope and Dawn.

Jeannie worked at the Diagonal School as a cook, and as a dietary aide at the Union Printers Home in Colorado Springs, CO. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, embroidery, quilting and canning.
Jeannie was a member of the Gravel Go Getters and the Friendly Neighborhood Club. She was a faithful member of the Christian Church in Colorado Springs for eight years before transferring membership back to Diagonal, where she continued to be an active and faithful member of The United Church of Diagonal.

Norma Jean is preceded in death by her father Edward, her birth mother Beulah, brother Leonard, son-in-law Roy J. Crumley, sister-
in-law Mildred Sobotka, and great granddaughter Noelte Taniser.

She is survived in death by her mother, Frances Sobotka, husband Roy, her children; Roseann Crumley, Mary Beth (Ernie) Hower, Spencer (Ellie) Lumbard, Brenda (Scott) Hoffman, Hope (Willie)
Hall and Dawn (Pete) LaCasse; also 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Norman Jean passed away on Oct. 29, 1999.

Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Pam Farren officiating.
Music was provided by Mrs. Claire Newton and Mrs. Rick Wiley.

Casketbearers were Bruce Hower, Greg Hower, Rudy Taniser, Louis Lumbard, Isaac Lumbard, Eleazar Hoffman. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Crumley, Eric Hall, Donald Sobotka, Ivan Sobotka, and David Sobotka.

Interment was at the Graceland Cemetery at Creston.
Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
