Heart Attack is Fatal To Clarence Coen

Funeral Services to Be Held Tomorrow From Episcopal Church

Clarence Coen, 49, partner in the firm of McGregor Brothers and Coens, died of a heart attack at 8:45 o'clock yesterday morning at his home, 805 West Adams Street.

Mr. Coen, a prominent business and civic leader in the Creston community for the past 25 years, had been in apparent good health and his death was unexpected.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from St. Paul's Episcopal church and will be conducted by the Rev. G. Moore Morgan, priest-in-charge. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Born at Afton

Clarence Eugene Coean was born Oct. 10, 1889, at Afton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Coen. He was married on April 23, 1924, in Washington, D. C. to Helen Howard.

Mr. Coen came to Creston from Afton with his brother, Harry, 25 years ago. With L. L. McGregor, who came from Gravity, the formed a partnership with the late Charles McGregor, who then operated the McGregor Furniture company.

He was a member of the Episcopal church and of the Masonic, Elks and Eagles lodges. He was formerly exalted ruler of the Elks and was prominently identified with charity work.

Wife, Daughter Survive

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Martha Elizabeth Coen, two sisters, Dr. Frances Julander of Des Moines and Mrs. Olive Tevebaugh of Creston; three brothers, Edwin J. Coen of Des Moines, Charles E. Coen of Afton and Harry A. Coen of Creston, and an aunt, Mrs. S. J. Sullivan of Creston.

The body was taken to the home this afternoon and will lie in state there until time for the funeral services
