Brown, Raymond Dean -
Raymond Dean Brown was born July 26, 1916, in Union county, Iowa the son of Richard and Nettie (Dewey) Brown. He attended school through the 8th grade and spent his entire life in the Creston and surrounding area where he worked as a farmer. Raymond worked hard on the farm. He picked a lot of corn, both on his own farm and for other farmers as well.
On November 7, 1936, Raymond was united in marriage to Edna Maxine Blair in Mt. Ayr, Iowa. To their union was born a son Gerry and a daughter Kathryn.
He was a member of the Jerusalem church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edna on August 22, 1997, his parent, and two brothers, Don and Everett Brown.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Gerry and Beverly Brown of Lenox, a daughter Kathryn Steghall of Creston; three grandchildren: Lori Goodson and her husband Alan of Lenox, Mike Brown and wife Amy of Lenox, and Kevin Baker and wife Tracey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; eight great-grandchildren: Andy and Mark Goodson, Chelsi, Heather, Robert and Brandon Brown, all of Lenox and Ashley and Stephanie Baker of Oklahoma City, a sister Marie White of Green, New York and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held Monday, November 3, 1997 at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Creston with Rev Elliott Butler, III of the Jerusalem church officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Cromwell.
Serving as pallbearers were Alan Goodson, Mike Brown, Kevin Baker, Charlie Jackson, William Snyder and Eric Snyder. Jean Boyd as organist provided accompaniment for Dorothy Jackson and Phyllis Huff.
Memorials may directed to the Jerusalem Church or Green Valley Hospice.
Coen-Beaty Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
