Brown, Edna Maxine Blair -
Edna Maxine Brown was born February 19, 1919, in Sand Creek Township of Union County, Iowa. She was one of four children of Clyde and Retta (Ruggles) Blair.
Edna graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1936. On November 7, 1936, she was united in marriage to Raymond D. Brown in Mt. Ayr, Iowa.
Their union was blessed with two children: Gerry and Kathryn.
Edna and Raymond spent their entire married life in the Creston and surrounding area. Edna was a farm wife and homemaker.
She died August 22, 1997 at Greater Community Hospital in Creston at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 3 days.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Leslie and Cecil Blair.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Raymond of Creston, a son and daughter-in-law, Gerry and Bev Brown of Lenox, a daughter Kathryn Steggall of Creston, a brother, Floyd Blair of Creston, grandchildren and their spouses: Lori and Alan Goodson of Lenox, Mike and Amy Brown of Lenox, and Kevin and Tracy Baker of Oklahoma City, OK; great-grandchildren: Andy and Mark
Goodson, Chelsi, Heather, Robert and Brandon Brown all of Lenox; and Ashley and Stephanie Baker of Oklahoma City, OK; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 25, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Creston with Rev. Elliott Buter, III, of the Jerusalem Church officiating. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Cromwell. Visitation was held Sunday at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Creston.
Those serving as pallbearers were Alan Goodson, Mike Brown, Kevin Baker, Charles Jackson, William Snyder and Eric Snyder. Lynn Baker as organist provided accompaniment as Dorothy Jackson and Phyllis Huff sang "The Old Rugged Cross", "How Great Thou Art", and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."
Memorials may be directed to the Jerusalem Church or Greater Community Hospital Home Care.
Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Creston was in charge of funeral arrangements.
