Sevier, Martha Schoenfeldt-
Martha Johanna Henrietta Sevier was born August 5, 1900 in Fredericka, Iowa, to Frederick William and Minnie Wilhmenia (Westphal) Schoenfeldt. She attended school in Valley Falls, Kansas.
Martha was married on February 18, 1920 to Harold Irvin Sevier in Osceola, Iowa. To their union was born six children.
Martha lived most of her life in Union County. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. As her family grew, her devotion extended to her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Martha died January 6, 1997, at the Lenox Care Center at the age of 96 years, 5 months, 1 day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold in 1975, one daughter, eight grandchildren, four sisters, one brother, and two sons-in-law.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Dorothy Sterling of Lenox; Betty Page and her husband Bill of Kent; Ruby England
and her husband Bill of Wheatland, Missouri; Jim Sevier and his wife Wilma of Kent; Larry Sevier and his wife Shirley of Macksburg; 25
grandchildren; 66 greatgrandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 10, 1997 at 3 p.m. at Coen-Beaty Funeral home in Creston with Dr. Robert Pickerel! officiating.
Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery in Creston.
Serving as pallbearers were Douglas Sterling, Steve Page, John Roach, Roy Parson, Gene Clark and Terry Mainline. Musical selections
included, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Memorials may be directed to the Martha J. Sevier Memorial Fund.
Coen-Beaty Funeral Home of Creston was in charge of funeral arrangements.
