Thomson, Mona May Miller Beemer -
Mona May Thomson passed away the 15th of September, 1996 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She was born October 1, 1914 in Walnut, Kansas. She moved with her family to Tabor, Iowa and then to North Dakota. The family moved back to the Randolph, Iowa area where she finished school in Strahn.
Mona married Francis Eugene Beemer. From this union three children were born. Later she married Dr. Vale Thomson of Clearfield, Iowa.
She is survived by her loving husband, Vale Thomson of Clearfield; daughter Gloria Hanson and husband Gary of Marshalltown, Iowa and their two daughters; Stacy Jobes and husband David of Schleswig, Iowa and Stephanie Hanson of Mason City, Iowa; Son Arlin Beemer and wife Mary Lynn of Mason City and their three children; daughter Lindsay Schmidt and husband Tim of Ankeny, Iowa and their son Spencer, Daughter Sara Beemer and fiancee Kyle Leininger of Kansas City, Missouri, son Aaron Beemer and wife Valerie of Mason
City, Iowa and their son Tyler.
Also surviving is step-daughter JoAnn Avey of Peoria, Arizona and her two children; daughter Holly Rapp and husband Steve of Tucson, Az. and a son Josh Avey also of Tucson and a step-son Dr. John Tomson and wife Kay of Brookings, South Dakota and their two sons; Dr. Dan Thomson and wife Cindy of Ames, Iowa and their two daughters Kelly Mae and Katfend and David Thomson of
Glacier National Park, Montana.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Proctor and Olive Tomes Miller, ten brothers and her daughter Sandra.
Mona was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clearfield and the U.M.W. circle, as well as the Clearfield Lions and formerly the Eastern Star and P.E.O.
Mona was a gift to all those she touched. Her love of life was evident in all her activities. Mona loved her family with passion and gave
of herself in her cooking and especially in her sewing. She made quilts for all of her family and was currently working on quilts for her great grandchildren. She loved nature and spent much of her time in her garden, camping, or fishing with her husband; Mona caught most of the fish. She also loved to travel and her and Doc had many great adventures.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 18 at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield, Iowa. Rev Alan Rush officiating. Casketbearers; Aaron Beemer, David Jobes, Dan Thomson, Bill Hayes, Tiny Schmidt, Kyle Leininger, David Thomson, Josh Avey.
Interment at Graceland Cemetery in Creston, Iowa.
