Services for Phyllis Irene Sevier were held Saturday, August 12, 1995 at 10:00 a.m. at the Larkin & Shelley Funeral Home in Creston, Iowa. Rev. Lyle Kuehl, Pastor of the United Church of Christ.
Casket bearers were Phil South, Harry Walters, Tim Danialson, Rick Landers Jr., Denny Middleton, and Garrett Harrison. Honorary bearers were Pete Buol, Duane White, Ted Russell, Kevin Glassmeyer, Rick Saunders Sr., Wayne Brown, and her many friends.
Music was by Lynn Baker, organist and Kevin Vickery, soloist.
Phyllis Irene Sevier was born in Union County to Max and Ruby Badgett on December 7, 1938 and entered into rest at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center on August 9, 1995 at the age of 57 years, 8 months, and 2 days.
She went to Platte No. 1 school through 5th grade and then to Lenox High School. On May 12, 1963 she was united in marriage to Harley Jones, this union was blessed with the birth of 2 children, Michael Anthony and Michelle Annette.
They were divorced in 1973. She married Jack Sevier on April 17, 1977 and later divorced.
She worked in many nursing homes in the area and was the first meal site manager in Creston for 3 years. She did home health care until her health wouldn't let her anymore. She always had time to listen to anybody's problems and many young people called her Ma.
Surviving to honor her memory is her father: Max (wife Gerry) Badgett of Lenox, her son Michael (friend Judy Allen and daughter Wendy Hoyt) Jones of Afton, a daughter Michelle Jones of Creston, adoptive grandchildren: Debbie (Scott) Jeter of Creston and Brenda (Joel) Bird of Creston, 4 adoptive great grandchildren: Drew Jeter and Shandi, Shaylee and Jaydree Bird.
Preceding her in death is her mother: Ruby Badgett.
Interment was in the Morgan Cemetery in Kent, Iowa. Memorials to the Creston Meal Site.
May God grant comfort and rest to those who mourn.
