Raymond Francis of rural Kent died June 10, 1995, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was 85 years old.
Funeral services were held June 13 at Keating-Lindsay Funeral Home, with Rev. Peter Brantner and Rev. Richard Francis officiating.
Music was provided by Lynn Baker. Pall bearers were Randy Beving, Ernest Burke, George Francis, Steve Francis,Philip Hudson, and David Tripp. Honorary bearers were Lonnie Barker, Bill Early, Al Hoepker, Richard Ide, Eugene Lucas, Robert Rhoades and Louis White.
Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Creston.
Raymond was born August 28, 1909, in Grant Township, to Charles J. and Ida (Morley) Francis.
On August 10, 1934, he was married to Irene Bullock.
Raymond was a lifetime resident of Union County. He was a member of the Platte Center Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and trustee.
Survivors include his wife Irene, of Kent; sons David (wife Fern) of Dallas, Texas, Dennis (wife Glocile) of West Des Moines, Jere (wife Candis) of Columbia, Mo., and Ted (wife Ruth) of Burlington, Iowa; brothers Paul Francis
and LeRoy Francis, both of Creston; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
