Miss Louise Schumacher was born in Mannheim, Germany, December 1, 1877 and came to the United States at the age of four years. She departed this life at the home of her daughter in Kansas City, Kansas, March 22, 1951 at the age of 73 years, 3 months, and 22 days.
She was the eldest daughter of seven children of Erhart and Francisca Schumacher. On April 22, 1896 she was united in marriage at Creston, Iowa, to Wilson Davis Holmes, who preceded her in death on June 10, 1931.
To this union were born five children: Freddie Holmes, who died in infancy, Irene Christensen, who died July 10, 1936; Landis Holmes, who died May 15, 1923; Mansel Holmes, who died July 5, 1949; and Mrs. Meroa Campbell, 1405 No. 32nd St., Kansas City, Kansas, who survives here. She is also survived by one sisters, Mrs. Grace Bixler, New Castle, Pennsylvania, and one brother, Fred Schumacher of Creston, Iowa, one granddaughter, Mrs. Frances Christensen Pearson and one great grandson, Victor George Pearson, and a host of realtives and friends who will mourn her passing.
Although she was a member of the Lutheran church se attended the Creston Christian Church for many years. She was a member of the Royal Rebekah Lodge No. 47, who conducted short services at the Chapel. Services were held at the Deitrick & Keating Chapel in Creston, Iowa, March 25, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ernest Worden, pastor of the Christian church in charge. Interment was made in Graceland cemetery. Casket bears were Earnest Porter, Clyde Admams, William Notz, Paul Pridgen, Ray Mayer, Russell Weidner. Music was furnished by Elaine Koneene and Therese Richards with Mrs. Claude Hart accompanist.
