Jennetta Burns, 88,
Dies Here Today

Mrs. Jennetta Burns, 88, died at the Jones convalescent home here at 12:01 p. m. today. She had been ill for some time.

Funeral services will be held at the First congregational church here at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Leslie J. Barnette will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery at Cromwell. Her body will be at the Deitrick and Keating funeral home until time for the services. Casket Bearers will be Hobart M. Thomas, Garnet Thomas,, John Harrison, Arthur J. Nord, Arthur Rogers and Richard E. Brown.

Jenetta Brown, eldest daughter of Mary Ann and John H. Brown was born at minersville, in Henry county, Illinois, Feb. 25, 1863. She came to Union county, to a farm east of Cromwell, with her parents when she was a very young girl.

She attended public schools at Cromwell and college at Grinnell. She passed the Union county teachers' examination, at Afton and taught for several years in Union county rural schools.

On Sept. 7, 1886, she was married at Cromwell, to W. W. Burns, who preceded her in death last Christmas day. They moved from the farm near Cromwell to Creston, where she lived the remainder of her life except for a few years spent at Lincoln, Nebr.

Mrs. Burns was a member of the congretational church at Cromwell.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Helen Ann Reye of Detroit, Mich., and Hazel Burns of Creston; two brothers, Richard Brown and Howard Brown, both of Creston; and several nieces and nephews.
