Miller, Joseph Christopher -
Joseph Christopher Miller son of August and Anna Schmitt Miller, was born in Creston, Iowa on March 31, 1888, and passed away November 24 1967, at the
age of 79 years seven months, and 23 days.
Following schooling at St. Malachy's in Creston, he was engaged in greenhouse operation and carpentry with his family.
As a young man he joined the Knights of Columbus and recently received a 50-year membership pin.
On February 10, 1915, he was united in marriage to Mary A. Sapp at St. Patrick's Church in Lenox. To this union was born one daughter who died in infancy,
also two sons, Eugene and Raymond both of whom survive.
Other survivors besides his wife, Mary, include one daughter-in-law, Rose, seven grandchildren, and one sister, Mary, of Eugene, Oregon.
Mr. Millers life was spent close to Nature in farm work and gardening. His greatest pride was in those things developed with his own hands. He had been in
failing health since 1951 due to a heart condition and a series of light strokes, the greatest of which came on October 31st of this year.
Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Church in Lenox Monday, November 27th with Father LaVerne Wingert, officiating.
Bearers were Leo Ryan, Charles Smith, Wilbur Blair, Leo Bridgeman, Gerald Rainforth and Hubert Bradley, Sr.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Creston.
