From Adams County Union Republic (Newspaper), March 21, 1900
Mrs. Susan B. Pease, passed away at her home 303 North Oak street, Creston, Iowa, last Thursday evening.
Susan Bean was born at Jay, Maine, on May 23, 1817, where she lived until the death of her husband, Asa Pease in June 1875, when she came west and located at Corning, Iowa where her son, O. A. Pease, lived. Ten years later she moved to Creston with her daughter, Jessie, with whom she has since resided.
The funeral services were held Friday morning at 10 o'clock' at the home in Creston, conducted by Rev. Mr. Breed.
The remains were brought to Corning and interment made in Walnut Grove cemetery, the services here being conducted by Rev. P. II. Mason, of the Congregational Church, of which church Mrs. Pease was so long a member. The deceased was well known in both Corning and Creston. She was a kind and noble woman, her presence a benediction.
She was one of those mothers in Israel that others treated with admiration and respect.
A devout Christian she secured contentment from her religion, while for all she had a kindly look, and a word of advice and counsel. She has truly finished her course on earth, and gone to inherit that reward that is promised to the faithful. She leaves a daughter and son, Miss Jessie, of Creston, and O. A. Pease of this city to miss her.
