Herman S. Giffey Dies Here Today (March 18, 1948)
Herman S. Giffey died at his home, 216 South Myrtle Street, at 6:30 p.m. today.
Christian Science service will be held at the home at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Casket bearers will be Homer Callar, Wallace Grounds, Ira Lonnecker and three nephews, Donald, Raymond and Earl Selim.
He is survived by one daughter, Dorothy, who lives in Chicago.
He was married in 1904 to Nina Guthrie, who preceded him in death. In 1936 he was married to Emma Skinner, who survives him.
Mr. Giffey was a plumber by trade and was employed by R.C. Willbee. At one time, he was employed for about a year by the Creston News Advertiser.
He had been a member of the Christian Science Church for more than 40 years.
