Death of Grand-ma Ownby

Aley Ann Ownby, mother of Mrs. N. W. Rowell, died at the home of her daughter in Afton, Feb. 17, 1891. Mrs. Ownby was born in Franklin county, VA., Sept. 11, 1815. Her maiden name was Wray. She was united in marriage to James H. Ownby in 1839, and in 1849 they with a family of four children moved to Wayne county, Ind., and from there to Mt. Pleasant, this state in 1851, and to Knoxville in 1852; from there to Decatur county in 1855. Her husband died in Decatur city in 1883.

Three children survive her, Mrs. N. W. Rowell of this city, W. H. Ownby of Portland, Oregron and J. e. Ownby of Decatur county. Mother Ownby has been a member of Brethren (Dunkard) church since 1848. During all these 48 years her life, walk and conversation has been in strict accordance with her profession and faith. Trusting wholly and constantly in the promises of God, she has walked blamelessly before God and man without seeking, has commanded the esteem of all who knew her. Faithful wife, kind mother, beloved grandmother, you will be missed, because your chair will be vacant. Thy loving ones will await their time in hope and belieft that they shall see the again.
