Marvin McGinnis, CHS Student, Dies

Marvin McGinnis, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGinnis of route 2, Creston, died at the Greater Community hospital here at 3 p.m. Saturday. His death was caused by a heart ailment from which he had suffered most of his life.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Deitrick and Keating chapel here. Rev. Forrest Whitlatch, pastor of the Church of Nazarene, will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. His body will be at the at the Deitrick and Keating funeral home until time for the services.

Marvin McGinnis was born in Union County, February 20, 1934. He lived in the Creston Community all his life and was a student at Creston high school.

Surviving are his parents, Fred and Grace Donner McGinnis; four sisters, Shirley, Donna, Rosa Lea and Helen McGinnis; and two brothers Dale and Robert McGinnis.

OBITUARY Marvin Leroy McGinnis

Marvin Leroy McGinnis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGinnis, was born February 20, 1934, and passed away at the Greater Community hospital in Creston, Iowa on February 23, 1952 at the age of 18 and 3 days. He lived in Union County, Iowa all of his life. Marvin attended rural school and the Creston high school if which he was a member of the senior class of 1952. He was sports editor and advertising manager of the Arrow. Although handicapped form childhood, Marvin took part in many school activities. One of the happy events of his school life was the winning of the Union County spelling contest in 1948.

He is survived by his parents; four sisters, , Rosa Lea, Donna and Helen; and two brothers, Dale and Robert, all of home. Also Shirley surviving are his grandparents, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at Deitrick and Keating chapel at 2 p.m., February 26, 1952 with Rev. Forrest Whitlatch officiating. Pallbearers were Gilmer Mayne, William Larkins, William Abbott, Spencer Sanderman, J.D. Millier and Junior Carlson. Burial in Graceland cemetery.
