Leach, Nellie Florence Fitzgerald –
Nellie Florence Leach, daughter of Porter and Mary Fitzgerald was born near Eldorado Springs, Mo. March 5, 1884 and passed away at Creston Oct. 17 at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 12 days.

On December 11, 1904 she was united in marriage with Wesley Leach of Eldorado Springs, Mo where they resided until moving to Union County, Iowa in 1907. With the exception of 2 years spent in Minnesota, the rest of their life was spent in Adams and Union counties. They farmed near Lenox until December 1941 when they moved to Corning, and operated the Gamble Store with their son Glenn. In March of 1949 they retired and moved to Creston where Mr Leach passed away on March 25, 1953.

To this union six children were born: Alvin E of Prescott, Glenn F and Earl W of Creston, Thelma Chandler of Sharpsburg, Ruby Shawler of Lenox, a son Harold died on September 3, 1953.

Nellie was the 3rd child in a family of 7, two of whom survive: Mrs Julia Pelley of Altius, Oklahoma and Benjamin Fitzgerald of Creston. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren and 4 daughters-in-law, 2 sons-in-law and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs Leach accepted Christ as her savior September 13, 1899 at Eldorado Springs and later transferred her membership to the Kent Christian Church. Mr and Mrs Leach and their family transferred their membership to the Lenox Methodist Church where she remained a member until death.

She entered the hospital at Creston Oct 15 and died Oct 17. She had been in failing health the last three years and confined to her home most of that time. She had not been seriously ill until the last few days.

The funeral was Oct. 19 at the Lenox Christian Church, the Rev Duckett officiating. Burial was also at Lenox.
