Maxine Berry Groesbeck, 83, of Lorimor died December 2, 1999, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Services will be 10:30 A.M. December 11, 1999 at Powers Funeral Home 612 N. Dodge Street, Afton, Iowa. The Rev. Dwayne Henrichs of Thayer will officiate with burial in the Groesbeck Cemetery west of Lorimor. There will be no visitation. A memorial will be established in her name.

Mrs. Groesbeck was born December 18, 1915 in Arispe to Walter Archie and Almyra (Donner) Berry. She graduated from Arispe High School in 1932. Following high school, she moved to Long Beach, California, where she resided with her grandparents (James Doak and Ida May Berry) during the depression. She returned to Iowa where she worked for Solars Munitions Plant in Des Moines, Iowa. On October 31, 1942, she married George G. Groesbeck in Grant City, Missouri. They made their home on land settled by George's grandfather in 1853. She was a homemaker for 57 years.

Survivors include two sons Dan (wife Dee) Groesbeck of Lorimor and George (wife Jodean) Groesbeck of Blue Springs, Missouri; two daughters, Esther (husband Lon) Means of Creston and Ruth McDowell of Lorimor; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, October 25, 1996, an infant sister, Aldeen; three brothers, Elton, Jim, and Warren; and two sisters-in-law, Dorotha and Dorothy Berry.
