Nancy Lea Vogelsmeier, 61, of rural Sweet Springs, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs. Pastor David Ritoch will officiate. Organist Beverly Hasselbring will play the congregational hymns "Jesus Christ Is Risen Today," "Amazing Grace," "Jesus Lives" and "The Victory's Won." Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jed Howe, Josh Howe, Chris Howe, Jacob Barrett, Rikki Barrett, Cody Barrett and Kelsey Dunworth. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Born Dec. 20, 1941, in Waterloo, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Comer and Vera Cornelius Comer Mullins, who survives of Elkader, Iowa.

On Dec. 21, 1986, she married J.I. Vogelsmeier, who survives of the home.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs and had been employed as a purchasing agent at Cargill in Marshall. She had also worked at the ASCS office in Marshall. She was a 1959 graduate of Lorimor High School in Lorimor, Iowa, and attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Dana Dunworth of Knob Noster, Joy Barsotti of Verona and Kathryn Root of Sweet Springs; two sons, Richard Barrett of Des Moines, Iowa, and Daniel Clark of Concordia; two stepsons, Jay Vogelsmeier of rural Sweet Springs and Ronald Vogelsmeier of rural Sweet Springs; two sisters, Sally Brown of Eldora, Iowa, and Susan Johnson of Elkader, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
