Vera Kathryn Mullins, 92, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Central Community Hospital, Elkader. She was born September 1, 1918, to Ernest and Grace (Cook) Cornelison, in Union County, rural Lorimor, IA.

Vera was united in marriage to Alvin Earl Comer, on September 3, 1938, in Cedar Falls. They moved to a farm near Lorimor, IA, in March 1948, where they raised their three daughters. Following Alvin’s death in 1982, she later married Leslie Mullins of rural Lorimor. Later on, the couple moved to Elkader, where they enjoyed their final years. She loved to sit and watch the birds and see the flowers growing. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. We will all sadly miss her quick wit and gentle spirit.

Survivors include her daughters, Sally Brown and Susan (Merlynn) Johnson all of Elkader; sister, Enid Wilson of Cedar Falls; brother, Leonard Cornelison, Pueblo, CO; four step-daughters; one step-son; twelve grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and many wonderful great and great-great grandchildren.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Alvin Comer and Leslie Mullins; daughter, Nancy Vogelsmeier and sister, Leah Larrabee.

Visitation: 10:00 am until service time January 28, 2011 at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, IA

Interment: 2:00 pm January 29, 2011 at Grosbeck-Ashland Cemetery, rural Lorimor, IA
