Nina Craig, 87 of Afton, died Sunday April 25, 2010 at her home in Afton. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Powers Funeral Home in Afton. Pastor Dwayne Henrichs will officiate. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Open visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Powers Funeral Home in Afton, with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Memorials are to the family. Nina Rose Craig was born May 2, 1922 in Union Co., Iowa to Mary Hannah (Wright) and Newton Alexander Benedict. She attended school in the Afton High School. Nina was married August 8, 1941 in Grant City, Mo. to Harold Dale "Red" Craig. They lived and worked in Sacred Heart, Minnesota for a few years before returning to the Afton area. In 1969, they moved and farmed in the Conway area, and Nina was a farm wife, returning to retire in Afton in December of 1977.

Survivors include one daughter: Edna Epperson of Concho, Ariz.; three sons: Bud (wife Dianna) Craig of Afton, Edgar (wife Janice) Craig of Sedro Woolley, Wash., Bill (wife Shirley) Craig of Shannon City, Ia.; 8 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, 15 step-great grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold in 2004, a daughter, Geraldine in infancy and a son Arthur Craig, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a son in-law: Lester Epperson and daughter in-law: Katheryn Craig.
