AftonHarold Dale “Red” Craig, 90, of Afton died Jan. 23, 2004, at his home.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St., Afton. The Rev. Dwayne Henrichs will officiate the service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Afton. Open visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. today with the family receiving friends 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Afton. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Mr. Craig, son of Elma Lenore (Smith) and Russell Craig, was born Sept. 8, 1913, in Afton. He graduated from Afton High School, on Aug. 8, 1941; he married Nina R. Benedict in Grant City, Missouri. They lived and worked in Minnesota for a few years before returning to the Afton area. In 1969, they moved and farmed in the Conway area, returning to the Afton in December 1977 to retire.
Survivors include this wife, Nina Craig of Afton; one daughter Edna (husband Lester) Epperson of Concho, Ariz.; three sons, Bud (wife Diana) Craig of Afton, Edgar (wife Janice) Craig of Sedro Woolley, Wash., and Bill (wife Shirley) Craig of Shannon City; 10 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sylvia Benedict of Walla Walla, Wash., and Mary (husband Jake) Van Heeswyk of Afton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Ona; a daughter, Geraldine in infancy; son Arthur Craig; granddaughter Gail Ridnour; grandson Dale Epperson; great-great-grandson Charles Epperson; and brother Ralph Craig.
