William Schaffer, 80, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ella Moore near Cromwell last Wednesday night as the result of a heart attack. Mr. Schaffer is a fomrer resident of Lenox but has made his home with his daughter since the death of his wife on April 7, 1939.
Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Lenox at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by the Rev. F. j. Robins and interment was made in the Fairview cemetery.
William Schaffer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Schaffer, was born at Wellsville, Louisa county, Ohio, July 2, 1859. He came to Iowa with his parents at the age of 9 years. On June 5, 1883, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Miller.
Seven children were born, one of whom, Carl Edward, preceded him in death. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Emma Orth of Lenox, Mrs. Kate Miller of South Bend, Ind., Mrs. Ella Moore of Cromwell and Mrs. Margaret Williams of Corning and two sons, William of Lenox and Jesse of Huntington, Ind.; thirty-one grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
