Death of Mrs. John W. Hainline
-----------
Passes Away After a Long and Painful IllnessMiss Alta Charter was born in McDough county, Ill., December 10, 1859. She was married to John W. Hainline at Afton, Iowa, December 22, 1881. To this union four sons have been born, Clarence E., Clyde C., Claude and Truman S. Hainline.
Mrs. Hainline had been sick for several months with typhoid fever and other complications, from which she was not able to rally, although all the skill of the physicians and everything that loving hearts and tender hands could do for her was done; but it was of no avail. God called, and the weary, suffering, noble wife and mother, after eighteen long weary weeks of entire confinement to her bed, took her departure from the pain racked body on April 8, 1905, at 10:10 p.m. and another one of God's children had entered into that rest which remaineth for the people of God. Her last moments were comforted by the presence of her husband, sons, one full brother, Harrison Charter of Illinois, one full sister, Mrs. Frank Hainline, two half brothers C. B. and A. G. Charter, and one half sister, Mrs. Mary Little of Creston. There were one full brother, three full sisters, three half brothers and two half sisters who were not able to be present at this sad hour. Mrs. Hainline's mother died when she was a babe, her father lived to a good old age, passing away six years ago.
John W. Hainline came to Afton in the fall of 1876 and he and his wife have lived on the same farm for twenty-three years. She helped him make his beautiful place, doing willingly and cheerfully whatever her hands could find to do, always making her home one of happiness and sunshine.
She united with the Baptist church in Illinois in her early life and was ever faithful. she labored and worshipped in the Zoar Presbyterian church.
The funeral services were held at the Afton Presbysterian church Monday, April 10, conducted by the pastor, Rev. David S. Honsaker, who spoke briefly [rest to faint to read]
