Gretchen Berg, age 69 of Creston, Iowa died Friday December 20, 1985 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 24 at Holy Spirit Church with the Rev. Dennis Trausch and Rev. James Chiaro officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in charge, all in Creston, Iowa. Pallbearers were M.F. Thompson, Peter Hicks, Warren Oswalt, Jim Wolfe, Roger Foster, and Walter Oswalt.

Gretchen was born in Waukon, Iowa on August 29, 1916 to Peter and Anna (Waldron) Manderscheid. She and Albert B. Berg were married in 1947 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She moved to Creston in 1955 and was manager of Job
Services of Iowa in Creston. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and its altar society, Beta Sigma Kappa for 40 years, Creston Lady Elks, Catholic Daughters of America and the VFW auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert who died May 1, 1971, a granddaughter, her parents, and her brother Bill Manderscheid.

She is survived by a son James Berg of Des Moines, Iowa and a daughter Mrs. Pat (Julie) Ryan of Placentia, California; 4 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Dorothy Hayes of Waukon, Iowa and Marie Hicks of Chicago, Illinois.
