Anita Webb, Creston

Anita E. Webb, age 85, of Creston died February 12, 2011, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of Highways 25 and 34 in Creston. The Rev. Jim Morris will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery south of Shannon City. Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Anita Elizabeth was born to Mark Mack and Alta (Hannelly) Mack on April 9, 1925, in Council Bluffs. She was adopted by Gaile Cook and Pearl (Jones) Cook and grew up in Kent. Anita graduated from Creston High School in 1942. She attended Drake University for one year and then worked at a munitions plant in Des Moines.

After attending stewardess school in Kansas City, she became a stewardess for Trans Texas Airlines. During that time, Anita lived in Brownsville, Texas. In 1950, she moved back to Kent, where she worked at the bank. She and Lloyd Webb were married on February 22, 1953, in Creston and made their home north of Creston.

For 12 years, Anita taught Sunday school at Jerusalem United Methodist Church. Her memberships included Jerusalem Church, the Our Day Out Club (ODO), the Greater Community Hospital Auxiliary, and the Shannon City Breakfast Club.

Anita enjoyed writing letters and sending cards to friends and relatives. She created photo albums to be treasured by her family. Anita was very musical and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. In her younger days, Anita loved tennis, roller skating, and days at the beach.

Anita was an accomplished dancer, and she and Lloyd enjoyed ballroom dancing. She was devoted to her family and activities revolved around family, farm, and church.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Earl Webb of Creston; four daughters, Rozlin (husband Joseph) Selveen of San Diego, California; Linda Buxton of rural Creston; Kathryn Webb of South Burlington,ermont; and Diane (husband David) Siddens of rural Creston; four grandchildren, Monte Siddens, Melinda (husband Eric) Foland, Levi Buxton, and Janelle Buxton; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Margaret (Peg) Lund of Omaha, Nebraska, and several nieces and nephews.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents and her adoptive parents.
