Dora May Stalcup, 87, of Afton died December 6, 2001, at the Afton Care Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10 at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St., Afton. The Rev. Robert Sauser will officiate the service. Burial will be in Groesbeck (Ashland) Cemetery. There is open visitation from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday and the family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Creston.

Mrs. Stalcup, daughter of Ruth Elizabeth (Groesbeck) and Smith Longshore, was born Oct. 23, 1914, in Afton. She attended school in Afton and graduated from Creston High School. On March 30, 1935, she married Bryan Stalcup in Des Moines. She was a lifelong farm wife, homemaker and resident of the Afton area. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bryan Stalcup of Afton; three daughters: Anna (husband Donald) Ford of Sandwich, Ill.,; Susan (husband Max) Meeker of Days Creek, Ore.; Mary Belcher of Noble, Okla.; five sons: John (wife Lucy) Stalcup of Gladstone, Mo.; James (wife Linda) Stalcup of Lorimor, Ia.; Stephen (wife Patricia) Stalcup of Plano, Ill.; Mark (wife Louise) Stalcup of Lorimor, Ia.; Thad Stalcup of Noble, Okla.; a brother William (wife Alice) Longshore of Goodwell Okla.; a sister, Susan Gibbs of Strawberry Point. IA; 33 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son in-law: Robert Belcher; a sister-in-law and husband, Margaret and husband Harry Bullock; and a brother-in-law James Gibbs.
