Former Rozet Resident Dies at Deadwood, S.D.

Requiem High Mass was sung for Mrs. I.R. Owens, 82, at St. Ambrose Catholic church at Deadwood, with the Very Rev. Michael Thompson as celebrant. She had been a former resident of the Rozet community for 30 years.

Mrs. Owens passed away at her home in Deadwood on Friday, November 23 following a lingering illness. Burial was made at Mount Pisgah cemetery in Gillette on Monday, November 26, with the Rev. Father Charles Brady in charge of the graveside services.

Anna Pearl Capps was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Capps on May 4, 1880 in Hedrick, Iowa. On June 20, 1900, she was united in marriage to Irvine Owens at Afton, Iowa. In 1916, she moved with her family to a homestead south of Rozet, where they made their home until 1946 when they moved to Deadwood.

Survivors are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. J.B. (Phyllis) Carter, both of Deadwood: one sister, Mrs. Stella Ward of Knoxville, Illinois: a brother, Joe Capps of Iowa City, Iowa: four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter and one son.
