Dies Here Monday

John Henry Boyd, 83, who had lived in Creston for 81 years, died at the Greater Community hospital here at 7:30 p. m. Monday. He had been ill for six months and was in the hospital since February 17.

Funeral services will be held at St. Malachy's Catholic church at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Fr. Marian Kotinek will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. His body will be at McGregor Brothers and Coens funeral home until the time of services. The Rosary will be said there at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

John Henry Boyd was born at Mendota, Ill., February 11, 1868. He was the son of John and Ann Kean Boyd. He came to Creston with his parents when he was two years old and made his home here for the rest of his life. His home was at 310 south Vine Street.

He was a boilermaker until his retirement some years ago.

Mr. Boyd was single. Surviving him are three sisters, Catherine Boyd and Mrs. Nell O'Donoghue both of Creston, and Mrs. Anna Jones of Roundup, Mont.

[note--his name is not found in the original Calvary cemetery records. Family search records show Nellie Boyd md 1915 to William O. Donoghue. His father John is buried in Graceland]
