Delia Ann Lester was born February 14, 1842, in Crawford County Pennsylvania. She moved from there with her parents to Wisconsin and then to Illinois. She was united in marriage to Levi Arnold in 1861. She and her husband moved to Iowa in 1868, living the last forty years of that time in Union County.

There came to gladden their home three girls and three boys. Estella Eastman, Irvin, Elba Fluckey, Edwin, Frank and Nora. Nora died in infancy and Irvin preceding their Mother some five years before. The rest are living in Afton, except Edwin who resides in Waterloo.

Mrs. Arnold united with the M.E. Church which she attended as regularly as her health permitted.

During her last sickness she remarked that she was just waiting to be called home. For the last two years she has not been able to do much of anything, growing weaker and weaker with each attack until she obeyed (summons) February 20th at the age of 75 years and six days.

She leave to mourn their loss, a husband, two brothers, one sister, two sons and two daughters, a number of grandchildren and friends.

Funeral services were held today at 1:00 o'clock P.M. at the M. E. Church conducted by Rev. C. B. Guest and interment made in Greenlawn Cemetery.
