LEVI ARNOLD DEAD

Levi Arnold, son of Jacob and Nancy Arnold was born January 20, 1832 in Thompkins County, New York. He died at his home in Afton, Iowa on July 1, 1920 at the age of 88 years, five months and 11 days.

He moved with his parents to Illinois when he was a boy of eight years of age. He was united in marriage to Delia A. Lester in 1861. In 1868 he with his family moved to Iowa, living the last forty three years in Union County.

There came to gladden his home three boys and three girls, Estella Eastman, Irwin, Elby Fluckey, Edwin, Frank, and Nora. Nora died in infancy and Irvin preceding his Father some eight years ago. The rest live in and near Afton, except for Edwin who resides in Waterloo, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold united with the M. E. Church where they attended as regularly as their health permitted.

Mr. Arnold has been quite a patient sufferer for a long time. The last illness confining him to his bed most of the time. He seemed to be improving, but Thursday Morning he suddenly passed away to join his wife who had gone on three years before to the great beyond.

Mr. Arnold was a loving husband, a kind father, and a good neighbor, doing any act of kindness that he might find to do.

He leaves to mourn their loss, four children, 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, one brother and many friends.

The funeral service, held in the M.E. Church Friday afternoon at 3:30 was conducted by Rev. Mitchell. Internment was made in Greenlawn Cemetery.
