William S. Donner was born in Clarke county, Missouri on January 27,1947, and died at Afton, Iowa, January 8, 1919, at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 19 days, the cause of his death being paralysis which he sustained on Sunday before his death and from which he never rallied, being in an unconscious state to the end.

When a small boy he removed with his parents to Illinois, from there, returning again to Missouri, later coming to Iowa, which has since been his home.

At an early age he was converted and always lived a quiet, unassuming life, although never uniting with any church his motto was do unto others as you would that they would do unto you.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Samuel Mitchell, and interment was made in Greenlawn cemetery.
