Kenneth Stoenner, 86, 606 S. Maple Street, died Dec. 13, 1995 at Greater Community Hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. at the Keating-Liindsay-Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue. The Rev. Robert L Pickerell, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Green Valley Hospice.

Mr Stoenner was born Dec. 8, 1909, in Creston to W.A. Stoenner and Edith (Donner) Stoenner. He attended Creston schools. On Aug. 1, 1937, he married Juanita VandeWater in Los Angeles, Calif.

He worked as a security guard for the University of California at Los Angeles for about two years and then returned to Creston where he joined the police department in 1941, serving as chief from 1955 until retirement in 1962. After his retirement he made deliveries for Montgomery Wards and then did maintenance work at HyVee and Greater Community Hospital. He lived in Creston except for two years in Los Angeles. He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Survivors include a daughter, Claudia (husband Joe) Scanlan of Puyallup, Wash.; and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife on July 27, 1982, and sister, Pauline Birkner.
