Mrs. Truman Russell Dies In Des Moines. Nine children were left without a mother when Mrs. Helen Irene Russell, 44 passed away last Thursday at the Des Moines General hospital. She had entered the hospital the Friday evening before. Surgery was performed Saturday when a 9 lb, 1 oz, son was born. All attempts proved fruitless in saving her life. The new baby was kept in an incubator for a short time and appears to be a strong, healthy baby.

Funeral services were held at the Hamilton Funeral Home Monday at 10 o'clock. Burial was in the Afton Greenlawn cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Truman and nine children; Harry, who is married and living at Waukee; Mrs. Roberta Proudy, Woodward, IA; Kenneth, who was stationed in the Hawaiian Islands and arrived in Des Moines by plane Sunday; John, 18, Oliver 16, Donald Wayne 14, Edna 12, Marjorie 9, Roger 7, Diane 3, and the baby, Roland Gene all at home. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Donner of Afton and two brothers, Bob of Creston, Donald of San Francisco, California.

The married daughter, Mrs. Proudy has taken the baby and the pre-school Diane to raise. Mr. Russell wants to keep the rest of his family together in the home.
