Funeral services for Bessie Donner, 81, of Afton, were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Stroud Funeral Home at Afton. Rev. James W. Morris officiated. She was laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery at Afton.

Mrs. Donner passed away at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lucas county Memorial hospital at Chariton, where she had been a patient for six days. She had become ill while visiting at the home of her son in Indianola.

Bessie was born in Union county, Sept. 16, 1894, and had lived in this community all of her life. On June 24, 1912, she was married to Robert Leroy Donner, who preceded her in death in September 1972.

She is survived by two sons Robert L. Donner of Chariton and Donald K. Donner of Augusta, GA.; 18 grand-children; several great grand-children; a brother, Alfonso Knight of Afton; and a sister, Maulcie Eastman of Louiaiana, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter and parents.

She was a member of the Afton United Methodist Church and had been a resident of Fairview recently.
