OLIVER "BUD" LEASAN

Oliver Leroy "Bud" Leasan, 83, of Creston, died Sept. 14, 2008, at Greater Regional Medical Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of Highways 34 and 25. The Rev. Jerry Hoff will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, west of Creston, with flag presentation by Theodore J. Martens V.F.W. Post no 1797. Visitation will be 2 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Southwestern Community College scholarship fund. Bud Lesan, son of Neva Fay [McElroy] and Oliver LeRoy Lesan Sr. was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Des Moines. He graduated from North High school in 1943. He served in the United States Air Force as a pilot during World War II. He worked as an electrician in Des Moines and Creston and as advertising director at the Creston News Advertiser for nearly 30 years.

On Feb. 16, 1952, he married Margaret Ann Hopkins in Creston.

Bud was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 605 and Crestmoor Golf Club.

Surviviors include his sons, Bob [wife Janel] Lesan of Solon and Tom [wife Danette] Lesan of Creston; daughter Jan Lesan of Creston; sister Beverly Finch of Yucca Valley, Calif.; grandchildren, Matt, Skylar, Nicole and Caitlyn Lesan and Christopher Foster; brother-in-law Robert [wife Judy] Hopkins and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
