ALICE RINGBERG
Alice Ringberg, 66, of Shannon City died Sept. 4, 2008, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Arispe United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jerry Hoff will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at Powers Funeral Home, junction of Highways 34 and 25, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Rural Iowa Crisis Center or Arispe Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left under the obituary category at www.powersfh.com.
Alice Lucille Ringberg, daughter of Miriam Grace [Chitwood] and James Ambrose McCrary, was born Jan. 18, 1942, in Columbus, Miss. She graduated from high school in Hawthorne, Calif., and attended Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Miss.
On Dec. 28, 1973, she married Marvin Edwin Ringberg in Columbus, Miss. They moved to their farm in Shannon City in 1974, where Alice was a homemaker. She also worked as a PMR at Shannon City Post Office. Alice became a member of Arispe United Methodist Church in 2007, volunteered at the Rural Crisis Center and Shannon City Church and helped establish Timberview Bed and Breakfast in Shannon City.
Survivors include her husband Marvin Ringberg of Shannon City; sons, Terrence "Lee" Borrall [companion Pam Best] of Brooklyn, Wis. and Patrick Jole [wife Jennifer] Mink of Pella; one sister Beth [husband Robert] Waldrop of Columbus, Miss; grandson Trenton Lee Gaiser of Ames and granddaughters, Ashley and Megan Mink of Pella.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter Rebecca Mink and sister Marcie.
