JOHN LEE COURTNEY, Tucson, AZ

Born May 18, 1926, John Courtney passed away in Tucson, Arizona surrounded by family on May 13, 2008.

He is preceded in death by his parents Julia and Ray Courtney, wife Isabelle, brother Walter, sisters Mildred, Helen, Esther and Betty, grandaughter Sara Courtney Washmon and nephew Randy Stephens.

John was born in Lorimor, Iowa and graduated from Lorimor High School in 1944. He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. In 1955 John and Isabelle moved with their family to West Des Moines. John retired from the main post office in Des Moines and later resided in Bella Vista, Arkansas and Tucson, AZ.

John is survived by his three children, Ann Courtney (Chris), Carol Lundberg (Al) and Steve Courtney (Laura). Grandchildren Mia, Margot, Hillary, Troy and Zach, great-granddaughter Adyson and sister Ruth Wearmouth.

John was a wonderful father and is most fondly remembered for having never missed any event or activity his children were in. His wit leaves us with many smiles.
