October 11, 1900 (Thursday). Page 2, Column 3:

"Samuel Hitchcock died at the home of his son, Lucian [Lucius], Monday night [October 1] of paralysis. He has been an invalid for several years, but his death came suddenly at the last. In his stay he was a useful member of society and was highly respected by all who knew him. He was nearly eighty-three and leaves an aged wife, one son and seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren to mourn his loss." END
