December 14, 1910 (Wednesday). Page 5, Column 3 in the “West Union” column:

“Florence Corlille, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L[ouie] U. Harrison died on Friday morning [December 9] of lung fever. Services were held at the home Saturday [December 10] at 2 o’clock and the little one was laid to rest in the Summit cemetery [near Prescott, Adams County, Iowa]. Rev. James Kirkwood gave a very touching discourse, his text was from Kings, “It is well with the child.” The choir from Cromwell sang “Safe in the arms of Jesus” and “Looking this way,” also a solo, “Little baby’s gone to sleep,” was sung by Edith Bray, Miss Edith Hitchcock playing the accompaniment on the piano. The little one looked very pure and sweet in her last sleep in a tiny white casket wreathed with white carnations and a white rosebud in her hand. The friends and relatives have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.” END

[Copied from “Prescott Argus” of December 16]

‘Mr. and Mrs. L[ouie] U. Harrison of Union township, were called upon last Thursday night to mourn the sad death of their five weeks old daughter. The child had been ailing a short time with a cold, resulting in bronchial trouble, but its death was not looked for. The little child passed away during sleep, its parents not being aware of its death until awakening from sleep and finding it dead. The funeral was held Friday from the home, the services being conducted by Rev. Kirkwood of Cromwell. Interment was made in Summitt [sic] cemetery, Union township [near Prescott, Adams County, Iowa]. The parents have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.” END [Note that the “Adams County Union-Republican” reported she died Friday and was buried on Saturday.]
