“Adams County Free Press” (Corning, Iowa). June 1, 1928 (Friday). Page 3, Column 4 in the “Cromwell” Column:

“Funeral services were held Monday afternoon [May 28] at the Congregational church for Mrs. Henry Baker who passed away Sunday, May 27th, at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. L[ouie] U. Harrison. The singing was furnished by a mixed quartette. The pallbearers were William Widger, D. Gault, O.A. Cannon, J. S. Rundlett, C. E. Ours and F. D. Cherrington. “Grandma”, as she was familiarly known, had reached the advanced age of 92 years. She had been ill and confined to her bed for some time from complications arising from old age. She was united in marriage June 13, 1866, to Henry Baker, father of W[aldo] P[ayson] Baker of Cromwell and V[estall] A[lphonso] Baker of Petoskey, Mchigan [sic]. Mr. and Mrs. Baker lived for a number of years on the V. A. Baker farm southwest of Cromwell, later moving to town. After the death of her husband Mrs. Baker lived alone as long as health would permit. While living here she spent much of her time working among the children and found great pleasure in the work and much good was accomplished by her efforts.” END
