“Adams County Free Press” (Corning, Iowa).
July 13, 1933 (Thursday). Page 7, Column 4 in the “Cromwell” Column:

“Word of the death of James Brown of Creston, who passed away early this morning (Monday), [July 10, 1933] is received here. Mr. Brown was well known here. He was the eldest brother of Miss Mary A. Brown of this place [Cromwell]. He had been critically ill for some time and his death was not unexpected. Plans for funeral services are not known at this time but burial will be made in the family lot in the Cromwell cemetery.” END

July 20, 1933 (Thursday). Page 7, Column 3 in the “Cromwell” Column:

“Funeral rites were held at the Congregational church at Creston, Rev. Paul W. Zeiks in charge, for James Brown Wednesday afternoon [July 12]. Mr. Brown passed away at 9:15 Monday morning [July 10] at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl Nord, 912 West Mills St. He was 72 years of age. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J[ohn] H[amilton] Brown, pioneer settlers of this vicinity, coming here in 1869. Mr. Brown had been in the automobile business at Creston since 1909. At the time of his death he was president of the Creston Auto Co. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. May A. Nord and Mrs. Alice G. Nord, and one granddaughter, Shirley Mae Nord, of Creston; also four sisters and three brothers. Burial was made beside the wife, who preceded him in death, in the Cromwell cemetery.” END
