Bessie May Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Johnson of this city, departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 1893. she was born Oct. 5th, 1890 at Fontanelle, Iowa. Her sickness was of very short duration. As she was well and in her usual happy mode at six o’clock the day before her death. The first cause for alarm was a congestive chill and she grew steadily worse until eleven o’clock the next day when she died. This sudden shock is a great affliction for the parents who greatly mourn their loss. Their many friends unite to assist them to bear the burden. The funeral services were held at the church conducted by Hugh A. Orchard, after which her remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Afton cemetery
