DIED—October 20, 1893, at her residence in Jones Twp., Union Co., Iowa, Sarah Kimmer, aged 82 yrs., 11 mos., and 19 days.

Sarah Kimmer was born in Brackin county, Kentucky, Oct. 10, 1810 and died Friday, Oct. 20, 1893. In 1827, April 5th she was married to Samuel Kimmer, in her native county, and in 1835 moved to Fayette Co., Indiana, where she joined the New Light Church in 1840, in company with her husband. After a residence of some years in Indiana and also in Peoria, Illinois, she finally settled with her husband in Jones township, Union county, Iowa, where she resided until her death.

Mrs. Kimmer was the mother of Thirteen children, of whom three sons and four daughters are still living. Besides her own large family she brought up from childhood three children of a deceased son. Mrs. Kimmer was one of three living children, she being the eldest. Her brother, Mr. Jeremiah Powers, of Jones township, was being to feeble to attend the funeral services.

Mrs. Kimmer was in her last days attended by the loving hands of four of her children, a large number of grand children and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mester, of Atchison, Kan., whom she raised from infancy, was present and assisted with loving hands and greatful heart in caring for her grand-mother.

Grand-ma died in peace, not only respected but loved by her neighbors, and was willing to obey the call of her Great Master to come to rest.

The funeral was largely attended at Ottberbine Chapel, Sabbath afternoon. It was conducted by Rev. Evans, of Afton who spoke from Jer:12:5, “Then how wilt thou do in the swelling Jordan?”
(Name on her husband’s stone and WPA records show Kemmer)
