DIED—October 20, 1898*, at his residence in Afton, Peter Lear, aged 45 years, 6 mos. and 10 days.

Peter Lear was born in Germany, April 10th, 1848 and moved with his parents to Canada in 1849. In 1858 he came to Illinois and in 1868 they moved to Brooklin, Poweshiek, Co. Six years afterward he with his parents moved to Afton, where on May 30, 1875, he was married to Elizabeth Henderson. He died October 20, 1893, aged 45 years 6 months and 10 days. He leaves a widow and eight children, a father, two sisters and a brother to mourn his loss. He was a kind husband and father
