STELLA BLANCHE STRADLEY

Funeral services for Mrs. Robert (Stella B.) Stradley, 80, of Afton were held Saturday at 1:30 P.M., November 17, 1973 at the Stroud Funeral Home in Afton. Rev. Earl Thorton, pastor of the Assembly of God, officiated. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery at Afton.
Mrs. Stradley died at the Greater Community Hospital at Creston at 11:00 p.m. Wednesday. She had entered the hospital Tuesday after being a patient at Crest Haven Nursing Home.
Stella Blanche Stradley, daughter of George and Mary (Willis) Wilson was born January 12, 1893 in Sand Creek Township, Union County, Iowa, and departed this life on November 14, 1973.
She recieved her education at Mount Vernon School. She was united in marriage on February 20, 1913 to Robert Stradley at the Methodist Parsonage in Creston, by Rev. L.K. Billingsley. After their marriage they moved to a farm near Shannon City, Iowa.
Besides her husband Robert, she is survived by four children, Zayda Harrison of Marshalltown, IA, Marvin Stradley (wife Dorothy), of Reading, PA., Vonda (husband Clarence) Long of Shannon City, IA, Irma Miller, (husband Leonard) of Lorimor; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchilden; two brothers, Harry Wilson of Arispe, and Clarence Wilson of Kingsburg, CA. Stella was preceded in death by a son Lloyd, son-in-law George Harrison, a granddaugher Joan Cain, two brothers, Lyman and Homer Wilson, two sisters, Laura Webb and Mattie Austin and seven half brothers and sisters.
In 1965, Stella and Robert retired from the farm and moved to Afton, where they lived until their health forced them to move to Crest Haven Nursing Home in Creston about 6 weeks ago.
A memorial fund for the Afton Assembly of God Church of which she was a member, has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
