Official death records have errors. Recorded Taylor County Deaths, book 1, page 30. In report dated Nov 11, 1886, C W Simmons, b. NY, died Nov 28, 1886 of old age and progressive paralysis. He was buried on Oct 29, 1886 in Bedford.

The probate record filed in 1888 used the Nov 28 date. Oct 28 is the correct date.
Heirs listed as of May 7, 1887 were
George Simmons, Grass Valley, CA
Sarah Budd, Big Tree, Montana
C W Simmons, Bedford, IA
Francis Lowry, Helena, Montana
Emma White, Bedford, IA

I'm sending the obit for Barbara Simmons by email.
