1920-1958Services for Mrs. Irene Lebeda at St. Joseph's
Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Lebeda, 38, who died June 9, 1958 of a heart condition at her home in Chelsea, were held at 9:00 Thursday morning, June 12, 1958 at St. Josephs Church. She was buried in St. Josephs cemetery. Mrs. Lebeda had undergone heart surgery on June 9, 1953 and had been ill for years.
The Rev. Father Schmidt of Tama officiated at the funeral. The rosary had been recited Wednesday, June 11 and Thursday, June 12 at the Hrabak Funeral Home.
The St. Joseph Choir sang at the funeral accompanied by Sister Margaret Mary, a niece of the deceased, on the organ.
Mass servers, all nephews, were Tony, Larry, Billy, Daniel, Richard and Jimmy Sheda. The Rosary Society attended in a body.
Pall bearers were Ray Formanek, Ludvick Mayer, Donald Erusha, William Hanzelka, Joe Musel, and George Hepworth.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were William Sheda, Cresco; Frances Sheda, Esterville; and Marie Mason, Los Angeles, Calif.
Irene Marie Sheda was born April 3, 1920 in Chelsea. Her mother was Mary A. Kosta and her father is A. A. Sheda. Mrs. Lebeda attended St. Joseph's grade school and Chelsea high school. She was married to Charles J. Lebeda on Oct. 21, 1946 in St. Joseph's parish. The couple lived in Chelsea after marriage and Mrs. Lebeda lived her entire life in that vicinity as a housewife. She was a member of the Ladies' Aid and the Rosary Society.
Surviving with the husband are a daughter, Mary Ann, 10, and a son, Charles, 9, at home; her father, A. A. Sheda of Chelsea; four brothers and three sisters, Tony and Ludvick Sheda of Chelsea, William of Cresco, Francis of Esterville, Mrs. Bruce (Evangeline) Cook, Hawaii, Mrs. Marie Mason, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Wilfred (Madonna) Suchy, Elberon.Her mother died many years ago.
