Sydney Karen Strohbehn was born April 26, 1941 in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Ralph and Myrna Pecenka Strohbehn. She received her education in the Geneseo schools where she graduated with the Class of 1959. She continued her education at AIB Business School in Des Moines. Sydney made her home in Waterloo where she was employed at John Deere and Company where she worked as a Purchasing Agent retiring in 1997.

In free moments she enjoyed flower gardening, handcraft work, and supporting her bowling team prior to retirement. For several years following her retirement she and her sisters were vendors at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market and was well known for her pies and baked goods.

Sydney's death came on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 66 years. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one brother Daryl (Cathy) Strohbehn of Gilbert, IA and two sisters, Gale Strohbehn of Waterloo and Carolyn (Dick) Dinsdale of Traer, IA and several nieces and nephews.
