TRAER- Viola Irene Manfull, 95, of Independence, formerly of Traer, died Thursday, April 24, at East Towne Care Center, Independence, after an extended illness.

She was born Oct. 24, 1912, near Garwin, daughter of John and Josie Dolling Stamp. On Sept. 12, 1935, she married Carl Manfull in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death Aug. 16, 1991.

She graduated from Garwin High School in 1931 and then woked for area families in their homes near Traer. Mrs. Manfull and her husband made their home farming north of Traer. In 1965 they retired from farming and moved to Traer. She did day care in here home for many years for area families.

She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Traer for 70 years. She belonged to Martha Circle, taught Sunday School and took a special interest in working with the missions.

Survived by: a son, Richard (Bonnie) of Traer; two daughters, Carmen (Dean) Wray of The Villages, FL, and Nancy (Robert) Hodgson of Grants Pass, OR; seven grandchildren, Keri, Teresa, Lisa, Michael, Mark, James and Brittany; 10 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson; and a sister, Beulah Mohler of Kalona.

Preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, Carl; three brothers, Bill, John and June; and two sisters, Ida VanHorne and Mary Preston.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Traer United Methodist Church with burial in Buckingham Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Overton Funeral Home, Traer, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to missions at Traer United Methodist Church.
